With the kids, back in school on Monday, I got back into doing companionship studies with the sisters again. It has been since the middle of November that I have done companionship studies. We went from transfers to Thanksgiving, then to our online proselyting zone conference, to two weeks of interviews, to Christmas conference, to Christmas, to transfers again and then later this week interviews again. It’s been a full couple of months. Tuesday, I met with the sisters in Sienna Plantation and Spanish-speaking sisters in Rosenberg.
On Wednesday, we started our latest round of interviews and continued them on Thursday and Friday. This time I am meeting with every companionship teach one or two principles using TTIPF, Teach, Testify, Invite, Promise Blessings and Follow-up. I look for comp unity, simple teaching, bold testifying in the Savior’s name, a strong commitment invitation, promised blessings, and how they will follow up. It’s been a good experience meeting with them in companionships as I get to help them improve their teaching by keeping them focus on their investigators needs. In some cases, we did a quick companionship study to really make a plan for their investigator to progress. Aaron focused his interview on their faith and testimony and had them teach me a scripture from the Book of Mormon. We call it BREAD (background, read, explain, apply, and declare a witness). The assistants join us again and did some specific training on technology again. We find that so many just don’t use the tools like they could. We will continue to help them use the phones productively. These days are long for us, but we know that it blesses our missionaries and the people we serve.
Jessie was glad to be at dance again. Her technique has really improved from the beginning of the year. She is also complaining less about not being able to do specific moves because she does not like to be told what to do. She figures she already knows. ;) I am glad she is learning humility. Bode had two basketball games this week, a W and an L. The team is hanging in there with the bigger and tougher schools. Proud of their tenacity. Zac golfed a couple of days after school this week in preparation for a big fundraiser tournament he has at the country club on Monday. Allie is back at UVU for another semester. She is in English, Psychology, Oceanography and Introduction to Social Work. She has reported that she loves the teaching styles of her Oceanography and Social Work professors. Allie feels like Social Work may be her thing. She finds it very interesting. I am glad she has found something that finally speaks to her because it will make school more enjoyable and fun. :) Happy day, week, life!
