A new week. Allie’s Spring break is this week. She is headed to California. Her and Saige went in on a beach house in Newport with some friends. With the eight of them it worked out to be a pretty sweet deal. She is happy to be in the sunshine and on a beach. Zac had a golf tournament on Tuesday. It was rescheduled from Monday due to a wet course from the Saturday night storms just to give it another day to dry out. It was not his best tournament. A little rusty after Spring break. He was just glad to be playing again.
My week was a full and busy. I did eight companionship studies and drove all over the mission to meet with the sisters this week. I love that each time I meet with companionship, I receive direction on how I can best help them and help their investigators. One thing I noticed they were struggling with is how to do lesson plans with their phones. Since receiving the phones, many haven’t been writing their lesson plans like they used to do with the paper planners. Although, we still have a few that use the paper planners still for that purpose which is great. I just know if the lesson plan isn’t written somewhere, it isn’t going to be remember. Another insight I had was using the introduction of the Book of Mormon in another way that emphasized the Doctrine of Christ as an integral part of the Book of Mormon. Both experiences are evidence to me of personal revelation that can be received when we have the desire to help others come unto Christ. Aaron and I both attended district councils as usual and came away pleased with how they’re teaching, discussing their investigators, and reviewing how they can improve. This week’s council was focused on the temples and family history lesson, something they don’t teach often.
I love the friendships I have made while down here in Houston. I have a new wonderful visiting teacher that is spunky and full of personality. Just what I need. I meet for lunch monthly with my previous visiting teacher that blesses me with opportunity to really know and understand what I believe, helps me considered how others think and believe and shows me compassion and love. Truly a friend. Our ward Relief Society is diverse and fun. We had our RS birthday celebration this week. We enjoyed a variety of salads and sweet treats. We also prepared for Easter and General Conference with activities and ideas to make both more meaningful for us as individuals and our families. Jessie joined me for the activity which she does almost every month. She loves R.S!
The week prior to transfers is a busy one for Aaron. He has a lot of changes to make with many of our leadership returning home in the next three transfers. This time around he is taking in account all the changes coming with our adjusted missionary count (120) and needed to shift more leadership to English speaking areas to account for fewer Spanish speakers. The mission will be down nearly 70 Spanish speakers by the end of the summer and it will change the entire nature of the mission. We also dropped down to only 44 sisters (was 90) and so he is adjusting where our STLs serve and the sisters they’re assigned to. It seems when he thinks he has gathered all the information needed to make changes for transfers, last minute information comes. He received two calls from SLC informing him that we have two elders coming that have been reassigned to our mission. One Chinese speaking and one Spanish speaking. Transfers are never an easy task. Lots of personal revelation needed for the process.
Aaron had a few more job opportunity calls this week… Just listening for now. He may have an offer on the way from the company in St George. We have talked to the kids about it. Bode and Jessie are very open to the idea. Zac would like to finish high school at Weber which is understandable. Allie would like her family nearby so she can be with us on the weekends thus she is very lukewarm to the idea. As a family, we would like to have some idea of where we are headed by the end of April. Lots of changes coming our way.
Jessie was glad to be back at dance and tennis this week. She got her recital costumes this week. She a happy camper about that. She has her second tennis tournament today. She did well but didn’t win her match. Her serve needs work but she knows how to score the game. She and Avery play double together. They did better in this week’s match but no win there either but they are having FUN! Aaron and Zac played a round of golf at the course Zac will be playing at for JV district championship. I’m loving that golf has been such a positive, fun and growing experience for Zac. A real answer to my prayers at the beginning of the school year regarding Zac specifically. Not what I was expecting but so grateful.
All good in the Great THSM. The time just keeps flying by.
