Sunday was a wonderful day. Aaron was able to ordain Zac as a priest on Sunday. Allie and I were invited into his class to take part in the event. It was sweet to have Allie be there for it. I am so proud of the man Zac is becoming. He is growing up much faster than I realize until we have days like these. Then I am like wait! Slow down!
As a family we have been enjoying the Olympics. Maybe too much, because it as been keeping us up later then usual to watch some of our favorite sports. If we had to narrow it to one sport, we couldn’t. We are loving watching gymnastics, diving, swimming and beach volleyball. We can’t wait for track and field and some of the team sports. Man the Olympics bring out the American pride and a bit of competitiveness.
We held our regular transfer activities on Monday for four missionaries that departed on Tuesday morning. Our Pioneer Days transfer meal was so popular; I did it again and got rave reviews. Can’t go wrong with Hamburgers and hotdogs. J We did our traditional Kolaches and yogurt parfaits for the breakfast the next morning. I didn’t go to the airport with them this time because I had already schedule an appointment for the boys with a new orthodontist to compare and get another opinion. I decided that their wasn’t much difference and so we will go with the original orthodontist.
We took Allie girl to the airport to head back to Utah. It is always tough for me to see her leave. It has been hard missing her some of her big milestones but even the little ones as she has stayed in Utah. She is doing great things and more are coming her way. Allie did an online orientation program for UVU and then made a trip down to meet with her counselor to get clearance to register. The problem is she is late in the process and not many classes are available so we are playing the waiting game and then quickly grabbing classes when they come available. She is registered for 12 credits but I am sure classes will still be changing. ;)
Aaron and I and Zac had a lengthy family council this week on whether or not it makes sense for him to come home. We have weighed out all the options and at this point have come to the decision or compromise that he’ll stay hopefully until the Christmas break. Keep all of us in your prayers. We want to do what’s best for him but it is easy to be selfish and just want him to do what I want him to do……stay with us.
The kids and I have been trying to do last minute school shopping. I do most of it online trying to limit the amount of time I have to actually go in the mall. Shoes are difficult to do online so we did venture out and were able to get some for Allie and Bode on Monday and then the later part of the week we finally found some for Zac. I did resort to buying Jessie’s online. Shoes are officially checked off the list. Yeah! Zac and I headed to H&M in Houston looking for shirts that we found and some jeans. Bonus!
Friday Jessie was invited to go see Pete’s Dragon with her friend Avery. She really enjoyed the movie. While she was there the boys and I headed to a rock climbing gym in League City. However when we got there we learned it didn’t open until 3. We had to kill some time so we headed to the H&M there in League City to look for jeans for Bode because he liked Zac’s. He scored! We then went back to rock climb for an hour. Great little arm workout, at least for me. We had a good time. It was sweet to have some time with my boys. ;) That night Aaron and I enjoyed dinner at Soto’s, a favorite for both of us.
I truly did a sprint (plus a little extra) triathlon Saturday morning. I biked for 22 miles, ran 5 miles and swam ½ mile. It was my first time going over to the community lap pool. It is definitely much better than swimming in the backyard pool for laps. It ended up being a rainy afternoon and evening so we mostly enjoyed watching the Olympics as a family. Oh and some table tennis matches. ;) Life is good!
