My week started off being filled at our Sunday meetings at our home ward with sweet testimonies shared, thoughts and insights expressed in Gospel Doctrine. The new format for Relief Society is wonderful. I love the more open discussion. Although I worry I talk/share too much. I worried about that most the week and had to keep telling myself not to dwell and move on. I want to be more self-aware in those situations. I enjoyed lunch with the sister missionaries serving in the Houston Zone. We enjoyed talking over Mexican food. I had two companionship studies this week with sisters in Houston 1 and Memorial ward. I tend to see a tread as I study with the sisters and this time the focus was on the Book of Mormon in helping investigators find their answers within its pages. Pretty cool how that works. The later half of the week, I provided or had lunch with our companionships who had won our zone conferences in League City and Lake Jackson in addition to attending the district council in League City.
Throughout the week, I took time to write up several pages of best practices and things the new mission president’s wife might want to consider for her family and how she can work with the missionaries. Her kids are all in school too. I came in without much guidance of what and how to work with the missionaries during the school day. I didn’t have perspective to know what to ask prior to coming and so my hope is this can help her hit the ground running faster than I did.
In other news… We are praying to see the sun come out again in the near future as it has been either rainy or overcast for weeks. It’s taking a toll on several of our missionaries with depression and we’re filling up the counselors office and psychiatrist chair. We have 14 missionaries heading to see the psychiatrist and we need some natural medicine in a hurry. Looks like next Friday may bring some mixed clouds and sun. Hallelujah. Love me some sun as well.
Bode lost both games this week. An overtime thriller and a blowout where he had most of the points for the team. His season comes to an end next week. He has really stepped up his studies in his classes. He made it a goal to be on top of his homework and assignments. Hallelujah!!! It’s about time and I’ve seen a huge important in his scores. Zac enjoys improving his golf game at the country club after school. He’s been enjoying his classes at school. The other day he was saying this year has been his easiest year thus far. Isn’t junior year supposed to be the hardest? He desperately needs a haircut and so does Bode but my requests fall on deaf ears. ;) I believe Jessie is going to be a history buff. She loves reading books about historical events as well as the people influential in history. She is quite inquisitive too, asking me why about all kinds of things that I usually don’t have the answer to. Thank goodness for Google. I don’t think encyclopedias would keep up with this girl. She continues to love tennis and dance. She not only enjoys it but likes that it keeps her busy. Jessie and I went to the Houston Museum of Natural Science Saturday afternoon. A lot of interesting exhibits and we learned more about Houston in the process. That night I attended the Houston South Stake Women’s Conference which was fun to connect with sisters from all over the stake. Fun night!
All good things happening in the Great Texas Houston South.
I realize I haven’t had pictures to included so I am going to commit to taking more. ;)
