January transfers began today. I decided to prepare a different meal today. So I made shredded pork sandwiches, homage coleslaw, homemade sweet potato and regular French fries, fruit, raspberry tapioca, and hornet’s nest cake. The family was tired of having Mexican food back to back dinners. Happy to say many loved the change. The night was topped off with FHE with our missionaries.
Our missionaries were at our house bright and early for breakfast. One sister had her parents come pick her up. That was fun. We then took the remaining three sisters and one elder to the airport. As always it is so hard to see our missionaries go home. Though I am so excited for their futures. We literally drop off the the departing missionaries and then go to another terminal or stay in the one we dropped them off in and wait for our missionaries coming from Provo MTC or the Mexico MTC. We then run them through our arrival activities ending back at our house for dinner. We love our new missionaries but the highlight of the evening was when Zac came home and reported he had an awesome game and that they had won. He made sixteen points, caused four turnovers, and a couple assists. It seems he does awesome when we aren’t there. I’m starting to get a complex thinking I might be bad luck. 😜
I was at the Mission Office by 9 for transfers because of the change of no longer having a transfer meeting. I talked with the missionaries as they came in, met with their new companions and picked up supplies. I tried to get a pulse about how they were feeling about their transfers. Transfers really went smooth even though it was a big change. We wanted the missionaries in and out within 30 minutes. It was closer to an hour for most and 10:30 for a few stragglers. Afterward Aaron and I met with our new missionaries about adjusting to missionary life and their purpose. We keep this meeting short because they have a lot to take in that first complete day. 😁 Bode had a game today. He plays hard and for most of the game. Seeing improvement in Bode boy. However his momma thinks he could work on drills that could improve his left hand dribbling skills.
Jessie is becoming quite the fashionista. Her request is that we create outfits that look like Allie. So maybe I should restate that she is becoming quite the “Allie fashionista”. This could be a fun new challenge or a huge thorn in my side. 😬
This week I was able to meet with two sister companionships during their companionship study. I love this time with them. We share our studies, ideas to help their investigators progress on the path towards baptism and role playing. My biggest thrill is when they text later in the day sharing the success of their companionship study had on their investigators. Joy for them and joy for me. Zac had another game on Friday that we got to go to.. We were hoping he would have a game like he did on Tuesday. Unfortunately the ball wasn’t dropping for Zac or for most of Clements. Only one boy was on fire with 3s, he made five of them. Even with those, Clements was unable to prevail.
I enjoyed a pleasant walk outside this morning before the rain came down today. It was chilly but nice. We had a fun visit from one of our returned missionaries this afternoon too. We have enjoyed a quiet day around the house with the sound of rain on and off throughout the rest of the day.
