We were invited over to the Morton’s for Easter dinner. They had several of their kids, their spouses and a granddaughter also a niece and her husband and little boy in town to celebrate not only Easter from their grandaughter’s 1st birthday. Gerry grilled up his sausage and chicken that he is so well known to do and Becca had prepared a spread of side dishes. I brought fruit salsa and cinnamon chips to add to the plethora of food. Jessie was the designated Easter egg finder for the whole group and she thoroughly enjoyed that! It reminds us of the Sunday dinners we are more accustom to. A nice way to celebrate Easter!
Wednesday Gpa and I were planning on going on Jessie’s fieldtrip to George Ranch but it got canceled because of the rain we have been having. Jessie was very disappointed but hopefully I will be able to go with her on the rescheduled date. Allie flew into tonight. YEAH! The family was very excited to have Allie come down for a few days for a much wanted/needed visit. We all miss her more than she realizes and when she is here it’s like she always has been here.
Zac has officially finished his classwork time in driver’s education. We are all very excited about that. Now he just needs to complete his drive time. You have to sign up online and they only open it once a week on Saturday at 1 so if you aren’t prompt you miss your opportunity to drive thus far we have missed the opportunity. L Bode is continuing to love soccer. He had his last practice before his first game that is this Saturday. He is looking forward to it. Allie and I enjoyed some retail therapy, Gpa did not but he got some mall walking and people watching in so he was happy.
Allie joined us for our MLC meeting. She was a little bored…not really applicable in this stage of her life and what she enjoys but she was a good sport. I loved having her with me. The meeting was very interactive and I think our zone leaders and STL’s felt the resources they were given will really connect the missionaries with the fundamentals of being effective missionaries. Gpa has had a racketball date the last two Fridays with Bro. Palmer. Gpa gets “thumped” (his words) because he hasn’t really played for years but enjoyed playing nonetheless. It's been cool to have the NCAA Final Four activities here in town this weekend. Aaron took the boys and Gpa to the NRG stadium Friday night to watched the college All-Star game. Joe Bolomboy from WSU was in the game and walked away with the MVP. Aaron also took them to the fan experience area and the boys could have stayed for days as they had every type of basketball challenge available.
Bode’s first soccer game was a success. Not only did his team win 2 to 0 but he scored on a penalty kick. He was a happy camper! After the game I took Jessie to one of her favorite parks between General Conference sessions to play with Natalie. She has a new love of parks. The ability to be outside to play brings her so much joy!! After the second session of General Conference Allie, Jessie and I attended one of the free concerts at Discovery Green that was part of the NCAA activities. We weren’t able to make it up to Jason Derulo, or 21 pilots but she was super stoked to see rapper, Kendrick Lamar. Jessie on the other hand didn’t really enjoy the experience. She hated that so many people were smoking so she would sink her face into my shirt to smell something better. She didn’t like that there were no chairs to sit in either and that she had to stand the whole time. She also thought he spoke/sang too fast that she couldn’t understand him and the few times she could understand him she would point out that he didn’t use very good language. Her critique was that it wasn’t a very good concert. She was comparing it to her Taylor Swift experience so….no contest. Allie still thought that it was awesome despite Jessie’s feelings. It was an experience and we were all together so I loved it!
