The kids had Monday off for MLK however it wasn’t a pday for the missionaries. The kids were a little bummed because they like to get together with the missionaries. Zac had basketball practice until 1. Bode spent the day with his friend Zac at our house. I had a companionship study that morning plus sharing of planning ideas with the missionaries that had interviews that day with Aaron. After I picked up Zac from practice, Jessie went over to Natalie’s house to play. While there they made s'mores which was a great treat. Zac and I ran to get him and Bode a new white shirt for church. His arms are getting too long for his shirt. 😬 Also He needed hair gel too. He’s needs to look good for the ladies. 😉
So last week the kids went to get their teeth cleaned. I knew Bode had at least one cavity because when he pulled out a tooth I could visually see it on the side. Zac also mentioned that he felt like he might have one in one of his back molars. Well Bode ended up with 3 and Zac two with three old ones that need to be replaced for a total of five. The reason I mention this is because I went Tuesday and the dentist wants to replace an old cavity of mine and crown another tooth because it has two fractures in it and the enamel is graying. A little crazy since I haven’t had a cavity since before Allie was born. I called Dr. Mattson for a second opinion to get a realistic picture. Apparently there are some dentists that are a bit more aggressive in replacing amalgamate fillings for the white ones. Decisions…decisions on what I should do.
Zac also had a basketball game against one of the Alief schools Tuesday night. Poor showing for his team in that they ended up in a losing but Zac had 12 points. Yeah for us that we got to see him play well. The other teams parents were very complementary of our team which is nice. Some games get so heated in the stands that it is hard to enjoy watching the game. Bode had a game Wednesday after school. His team played the first game which was a first. Brother Chambers from our ward came with two of his little kids came to watch Bode. His team was a head the whole game but when they were up by 15 the coaches gave all the kids a chance to play. The game got close, only up by 6 points when the coach put the starters back in. Bode is very aggressive on defense and hustles on offense. Although. He really needs to improve dribbling and shooting. He was chucking the ball a lot tonight with none actually creating points. I think he finally wants to listen about improving his offense game. 😀 Wednesday was another day of sharing at interviews. I just try to share things that I think will bless the missionaries as they plan to help their investigators along the path to baptism. If anything they know I care and love them.
Wednesday morning we had all missionaries gather for the Worldwide Missionary Conference. The conference theme was "Teach Repentance & Baptize Converts" and that has been the focus of our mission for some time now. It was awesome to see all the speakers stick to the principles that are taught in Preach My Gospel. I thought It was a great that the missionaries were able to witness that the tools and teachings that we have been focusing on are exactly what the apostles are teaching. They want us to stick to the basics. ;)
Thursday morning after getting the kids off to school I met with sisters for their companionship study. It was a really good session with these sisters. I see their light brighter than they do and hope that I mirror it back to them. I know that they don’t realize how good they are. Afterwards I headed an hour south to South Shore to join Aaron for more interviews. This time I sat in with the AP’s on their discussion with the companionships. They do an awesome job. Although I felt like I was stepping on their toes. They give great advice to the companionships but the thing I love the most is that they testify of the good things they have done themselves and are asking the companionships to do.
When I woke up Friday I decided I was going to bless the lives of the missionaries. I really wasn’t sure how I was going to do that but that was my plan. So the first half hour I visited, shook hands and gave hugs while Aaron was interviewing missionaries at the mission office. As I was talking to two of our sisters that are in an all biking area I found out they were going to have wait a couple hours or more for a ride back to their area. So I offered to drive them back. As we were going to get in my car one of the sisters realized she had left her cold weather coat in the sisters car that gave them a ride to the mission office. Today it just happened to be 42 degrees with a windchill that made it feel 32. There was no way I was going to let one of our sweet sisters bike in the cold without her coat. I was gone on a 2 hour adventure getting her coat and back to their apartment and me back to the mission office. That I believe was the way I was to bless our missionaries today. ;) No game tonight for Zac, they had a bye today.
Zac has practice every Saturday usually 10 to 1 which eats up most of our pday has a family. Looking forward to when that is not the case. It was an indoor workout for me due to the chilly weather we have been experiencing. Allie had a cheer competition today. They did well...3rd place. I was happy to receive videos and pictures from other cheer moms of my Allie girl. Totally made my day! :)
