11/1/2015 – 11/7/2015
After meeting with the AP’s in the morning, as we typically do on Mondays unless it is transfer week, I ran items to the kids that they forgot to take with them to school. I also picked up some supplies to make the November birthday poster for the mission office. I also arranged for a new tutor for Zac, Mr. Steinkemp to meet this afternoon. He has another tutor, Hallie Eichen, on for Friday as well. We so love tutors now. Jessie will meet with hers, Mr. Hackworth, on Wednesday and start tutoring with him on Thursday. Bode had his last game under the lights at a high school which was fun. Lots of mosquitos and a pretty big loss but playing and having FUN was the key tonight.
I attended one of our district meetings at the Bearing building. It was well done and then I took the two sisters out to lunch that are apart of the district. I like to meet with the sisters like this just to get to know them better and let them know they are loved!! I also went to lunch with other sisters on Wednesday after they had participated in a zone service project. It was a big group, seven of them. They were planting plants at a nature reserve park. It is so fun to get to know them better.
This week I have been trying to come up with the message I will be sharing with the sisters during zone conference. I really want them to understand their divine potential as women in the gospel and to enjoy the journey as they do so. It just isn’t coming together as quickly as I would like it too. It just gives me a bit of anxiety when I am not prepared and time is running out, although it worked out last week. ;) I really have felt the spirit direct me as I have prepared talks. I just want to feel it sooner in the preparation part.
Jessie made a gratitude tree at Activity days tonight at the church. She loves Activity days. An hour later we headed back to the church for Bode’s Court of Honor. He received his badges that he earned over the summer. He really likes his quorum and has fun when he is with them. Great group of kids but they all go to different schools. Zac, Trevor, Lainey and Clair ditched YM/YW but I was the only parent aware that they were going to Chic-fil-la but I thought it was the “activity” so I may have snitched on the others kids to their parents. Oops!
On Thursday, we held our second lesson pass-off meeting with the missionaries that arrived eight weeks ago. I love to be apart of this meeting. It just gives me another chance to interact with the missionaries. During the meeting, Zac called with a headache so I checked him out of school and then picked him up and took him home to rest. Allie also got her wisdom teeth out today. Keri had the joy of taking her in for this. She kept me updated and also took videos of our sweet Allie under the influence of anesthesia. Wow! So much more bold and talkative then her quiet reserved self. Keri commented that this was one of her “best days ever!” because Allie was so hilarious. The anesthesia effects lasted a lot longer than I expected. As I continued to check in on Allie through the weekend with Jennifer I was sad to hear the pain meds weren’t settling with her stomach. Not a fun weekend for Allie girl.
Zac has been busy with the “official” basketball tryouts this whole week with after school and evening tryouts. I have really seen an improvement with his basketball skills. He is continuing to grow too. I am feeling short next to him. Zac should find out Monday if he made the high school bball team, he believes he did well in tryouts. We have school tutors for Zac and Jessie now. Bode actually feels left out because he doesn’t have one. I’m working on that though. Thinking a math tutor would be very beneficial at this point. Picked Bode up from his friend Zac’s house last night. Several of his friends were there, Michael and Foster. He has made some really good friends. JB is a good friend from football as well. His mom is a vice principal over at Clements. She has been great connection for us in helping Zac academically. She had him come in to visit with her to see how she could help him with the adjustment. He lifted his spirits and felt like he had another resource at the school to help. What a blessing. The weather is still in the 80's, rainy here and there, but very pleasant. Have an amazing week! I know we will….Zone Conferences here we come.
