Happy Leap day! After our weekly meeting with the AP’s, I used the leap day to catch up on things that I have kind of let slide. Registering Zac for driver’s education. Done, he started today and hopefully he will have his driver’s permit by the end of the week. Order new dress pants for the boys because Zac has been growing yet again. Yeah for him, but boo for buying new pants. Trying out the new grocery pick up at Wal-mart. Done and I LOVE it! Try it, you’ll like it. I am also catching up on my blog. It is still a work in progress. I have been trying to figure out why my phone storage is all gone which is causing me not being able to take pictures for almost two weeks thus a decrease in pictures to share on social media. And then there’s long distance prom dress shopping with Allie. No luck so far but we are still at it.
I spent the morning sending uplifting texts to the missionaries that arrived a week ago. I really try to personalize them to know they are loved and refer them to Adjusting to Missionary Life to help them through the transition of coming to the mission field. Aaron and I also went to a couple of district meetings later in the morning. We each went to a portion of each of the district meetings. It gives a different perspective to see how the districts are doing and then we discuss what we liked and share where we gave some input to the district to think about things differently. We also had lunch with one of our departing sisters. She has been an awesome missionary. She is a wonderful teacher, trainer, and a testifier of Christ’s Atonement. She will be missed. Once home the school taxing chaos began. Picking up Zac and then Bode. Taking Bode to Tutor then to pick up Jessie from a friends house. While Jessie quickly changed her clothes for her singing program, I took Zac to Driver’s Ed. Once back we headed over to her school where I dropped her off to warm up with her class. I picked up Bode but he needed to get home to do homework so he walked home from her school. Jessie’s grade presented folk songs and dances. They had prepared 4 songs and two dances. Her class got to do one of the dances. She loved it! I was determined to vote today so Jessie and I headed to Clements High to wait in a line for an hour and half but I finally voted!! Jessie asked me why the wait was so long. I explained that this was how we get a say in who runs the country. She then says “Oh because we don’t want Trump, He speaks GARBAGE!” She learned that from Allie from when Allie got her wisdom teeth out. Not sure if Jessie’s statement swayed anyone’s vote but Trump didn’t win in Houston. J
Bode thinks he wants to play soccer again. He has some friends from school that play with the Eclipse club. I spent part of the day looking into finding a team, contacting them about availability and information about games, practices, tournament and expectations. There is a practice tonight that he will go to and if he does well they will extend a position on one of their teams that has spots available. They practice three times a week. Games are on Saturday and some Sundays….we are not required to play on Sunday. So that was good. After school was yet again crazy. Picked up Jessie and scooted home for tutor time with the sister missionaries. Then picked up the boys and after a snack and shower took Zac to Driver’s Ed. Jessie headed to Activity Days. I prepared dinner for the family and the missionaries. We ate then I took Bode to soccer practice. I stopped at Taco Bell to get Zac food and then picked him up to deliver him to Young Men’s. Once home I fed Jessie and then out the door again to pick up Bode. We needed ink for the computer for a homework assignment for Bode and headed back home. Luckily Zac had a ride home so no more running around after 9. Yeah!
Bode is the Birthday boy! Wow 13! We have another teenager in the house. He loved the phone calls, cards, presents and text messages wishing him a happy birthday. Thank You!! Due to his interest in soccer that includes another practice today not much birthday fanfare this evening other than Beignets from a local shop after soccer. He decided Beignets since there is no time for a dinner celebration today so he will share it with dad tomorrow night. Aaron and I had our lesson training with our missionaries that arrived eight weeks ago. I think this training helps them not only be better teachers but better all around missionaries. We discuss all the traits and skills needed to be a missionary and that they are developed continually so not to get frustrated but to make goals/plans for themselves to get better. We give them hands on how-to’s to make their goals possible to be the best missionary they can be. The mom taxi chaos continues. I was basically in the from 3 until 4:30 and then again from 5 to 8:15 when we finally made it to Chez Beignets III.
Aaron is the Birthday Boy! Wow Allie thought he was turning 46 and thought we were real old this year but then I reminded her that her dad is only turning 45. In that case we weren’t old but next year we definitely are. ;) The birthday boy’s day was spent at MLC. The meeting’s focus was on how to help the missionaries they are over to make and set goals….to help them have the desire (“their why”)……to help them understand the effort needed to make it happen and help them develop the skills to get it done. Great meeting!! The birthday boy received many fun birthday wishes via text and song. We made sure there was a birthday cake and his favorite…..birthday pie after MLC to celebrate his big day. As a family, we went to Jupiter’s Pizza and Waffle Co. for Aaron and Bode’s birthday dinner. J
We were blessed to spend Saturday enjoying the sun with some football throwing and bikes rides. We also saw Zootopia together. A fun little movie we all enjoyed. Aaron and I went to dinner with the other two mission president’s and their wives in the Houston area. It was a nice evening.
