I met with some sisters for their companionship study Wednesday morning. Our study was full of insights and revelation for their investigators. The sisters really want to teach their investigators so they understand why they need and want to be baptized in Christ’s restored church. I loved to see that desire. Afterward I headed to the dentist to get the filling replacement and possible crown. I talked to the dentist about my concerns and she reassured me that they would only do the crown if needed. I actually looked at the inside of the tooth and I can confirm that it indeed it needed a crown. My mouth was numb for way too long. I hate that feeling. Jessie had Activity Day today…..she loves it. They talked about Faith in God and the requirements to get it. Jessie is determined to get it. Bode also had a basketball game as well. They won the game but it came down to who took and made the last basket. Very close game.
We had our new missionary meeting for the missionaries that came in January. They have been here now for two weeks. We talk about how they feel thus far, I go over Adjusting to Missionary Life a little more in depth and Aaron teaches a wonderful lesson on the Atonement. I love his lesson on the atonement. A wonderful reminder of what the atonement offers us individually and to others as they recognize the importance of it and the blessings they can have because of it.
Tonight was a homework storm. Jessie had a poster to do for her book report on the planet Neptune. She had to have 3 diagrams that she drew herself and 5 facts about Neptune. Bode had to put the finishing touches on a PowerPoint presentation on Irish immigration to Texas. This project also required him to present it in front of his class. Zac has been working on a racial discrimination paper for English. His rough draft is due tomorrow. Allie had to plan her wedding for $5,000 for her Adult Roles class. The project included a PowerPoint slideshow of pictures, prices and links to all the “required” wedding plans. She and I finally connected at 9pm my time after helping the other kids with their assignments and ended up staying with it until 12:30. She stayed in budget at $4,934. Pretty good except the bridesmaid and mother’s dresses were pretty basic and bland but for $20 each what do you expect. Oh well, at least it wasn’t for real life. ;)
On Friday, we had a great Mission Leadership Council this morning. Leadership council is always a good meeting. We have training on a Preach My Gospel subject, discussion about concerns in the missions and ideas of how to overcome them. I did a training for just the sister training leaders on how to improve exchanges by asking better questions and personalizing the exchange for each sister. I used the explain, demonstrate, practice, evaluate and practice teaching model. Using the model was so helpful and so much easier for me to teach that way. If you have ever struggled to teach….this is the way to do it! :)
Zac had a home game tonight. It was a nice win for the Rangers. Zac had a hard game. He was shooting but his shots weren’t falling. He was quite bummed about it. After the Varsity game, he and some of his teammates went to Raising Canes (kind of like Chic-fil-la) to celebrate their win. He had a good time and it was nice to have him be able to just hang out we his team rather than just us. ;)
Aaron and I spoke at the Bay City Stake Conference tonight. It is a quite a drive there. Aaron had a priesthood leadership meeting earlier so that meant that I had to drive separately. At the evening session, I hadn’t really figured out what I was going to speak on up until minutes before standing up to speak. Very nerve racking for this girl who likes to have her talks completely written out. Let’s just say I was following the spirit, according to Aaron it was really good, and I am banking on that because I can’t remember what I spoke about. Crazy I know. Tomorrow I will definitely know what I am speaking on before I even get to the building.
