We celebrated President’s day enjoying the sun. While Zac was at basketball practice Jessie, Bode and I went to memorial park and then to Colony Bend Elementary to enjoy their playgrounds and basketball court for Bode. There were lots of boys already on the court and Bode joined them. We invited some of Jessie’s friends to come join us at the park as well. I think we ended up staying there for over 3 ½ hours. It was fun to be in the sun and really enjoy it. We had a belated Valentine’s family dinner Monday night. We went to a family favorite, Torchy’s Tacos. Great dinner and great company minus our Allie girl. We took a few pictures to share with everyone on Instagram because we enjoyed it so much.
This week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) I had companionship study with three sets of sisters. Companionship studies are awesome! I get to be with the sisters. I see and get to know their area better. I learn about who they are teaching and the obstacles they need to overcome as they come unto Christ. I am able to utilize what I have been studying to bless the lives of not only our missionaries but those they are teaching. It helps me be connected to the mission in a very braid and unique way. I love it!
It was the close of the basketball season for both of the boys. Both of them had games on Tuesday. Zac has been playing a lot more as of late. He really plays defense well. I think his coach has notice and is giving him more playing time. He had two 3 pointer’s this game. Close game but a rough loss to end the season on. He will have a basketball banquet next week to official end the season. Bode’s team squeaked by with a win. Bode played well scoring 8 points and getting several rebounds. He was definitely happy with his playing. 😊 They had tournament play on Thursday. The game was really close the night even tied in the last 25 seconds. We ended up fouling the other team and they won at the foul line with one additional point. A real bummer but Bode has loved playing with his friends. Basketball has been a great experience for the boys down here.
Jessie looks forward to activity days so much. Her leaders are awesome and really enjoy planning activities that the girls will like and fulfill achievements towards their Faith in God. Such a win-win. Afterwards Jessie wanted to spend some of her Christmas money at Justice. She got some good deals and still had money left over so she is already planning for her next shopping trip. I’m sure to Justice. 😜
We had a wonderful time at the temple on Thursday with our departing missionaries. I love the temple. I love the peace and comfort that is found there. Aaron and I are extra lucky because we are asked to be the witness couple each time we go with our missionaries. I love having that opportunity. We took pictures outside afterwards with our missionaries which is always nice. Then as tradition has it we go to Paul’s Pizza afterwards for lunch. We buy the all you can eat lunch for everyone. It includes pizza, bread sticks, soups, salads, fruit, desert pizza, pudding etc. The missionaries really enjoy it. It is fun for them.
Friday after companionship study, I helped out in Jessie’s classroom. It is always nice to help out when I can. I am not as consistent as I would like to be but I come enough that Jessie appreciates it. Jessie planned a girls night with Avery and Natalie Friday night while the boys were at an overnighter at Simmons Ranch with the Young Men. When I say plan I mean it. She makes a list of everything she wants to happen, food that will be eaten and likes to stick with the plan. We had the girls do an extra late late night,11:30. Jessie wanted them to sleep over but we are really trying not to encourage those. So we compromised and invited the girls to come back at 9 for breakfast, swinging, swimming and lots of other planned fun. We are enjoying ourselves at Colony Bend Elementary again. The weather really has been incredible!
Weber's last home game was tonight. They honored the senior Cheerleaders at halftime. Megan and Curtis were there to represent us and support Allie girl. It was a great night, Weber won advancing them to the semifinals in basketball. The cheerleaders did a lot of their stunts from the competition routine that the crowd loved.
Later today (Saturday) Aaron and I have a special MLC with Elders Maynes at 3 today that we found out about on Thursday. Aaron has been at meetings with Elder Rasband this morning and then we will go to a youth fireside tonight at 7:30 with the boys. A very full day! Sunday we will be will Elder Rasband once again. Never a dull moment here in the Texas Houston South Mission.
